• Lubrications that are made for sexual activity work best and are the safest. These include products like Astroglide, ID Glide, Gun Oil, Wet Light, and other brand name water-based lubricative products that were designed for contact with sexual organs. • Your own saliva. It might sound disgusting to some; but it's all natural, it works good, washes off very easily, and leaves no trace. So how bad could it be?

• Hand lotions, dry skin lotions, etc. As long as it is intended for skin contact, it is OK to try. However, some lotions may leave the skin crusty or leathery (depending on the person). Lotions with Aloe tend to be more popular than others for masturbation.
• Many men have masturbated with food related products as lubrications. Some find that cooking oil work great. Other guys find that many food products are sticky or cause a burning sensation in the tip of the penis. (Don't use hot sauce!). In general, you won't do any permanent damage from experimenting with food products on the penis. Use good judgment -- If it starts to sting, burn, or irritate the skin, wash it off right away.
• Vaseline brand petroleum jelly is relatively safe for the skin, but not really recommended for masturbation. It is a mess. Never use it with a condom when having sexual intercourse. It ruins condoms and makes them useless.
• Baby oil or related products are OK, but usually smelly and can get messy.
• Sun-tan and sun-burn remedy lotions have had mixed results depending on the person and the specific product. Noxima and "cold creams" are in this category.

• Soaps and shampoos generally won't harm you in the long term, but many soaps and shampoos cause some short-term burning sensations in the tip of the penis that can get quite painful for up to a few hours. If this does occur, you do not need to go to the hospital emergency room. It is not life threatening. But you can expect to feel some mild to moderate discomfort or pain for a while.

• Sugary substances like pancake syrup, cherry juices, fruit extracts, thick creams, etc. are really sticky. They really need to be washed off well to prevent foul odor in the near future. They also do not serve as good "lubrication" because they do not decrease friction.
• Sodas, lemonade, liquors, wines, beer. They just don't work well, and some can really cause temporary yet very painful burning sensations.
• Rubbing alcohol is simply not made for "masturbation rubbing".
• Deodorant, antiperspirant, hair care products, hair gel, etc., are not very good either and may cause skin irritation problems.
• We do not recommend the use of masturbation products that promise to cause your penis to "stay erect longer" or "make your penis bigger". These are often sold as lubrication creams, foams, and lotions . They often numb the nerves in the penis and may have unknown long-term complications if used often.
